Founder's Profile

Tim Ross is a graduate of UMass-Lowell (formerly Lowell Technological Institute) with Graduate Studies in Plastics Engineering and with an emphasis on Composites.

Tim got his start in composites by starting a small business producing custom-fit Hockey Goalie Masks. Throughout college, Tim ran a marina on Cape Cod, Massachusetts doing all of the fiberglass repairs and systems outfitting of all the new boats. After school, Tim accepted his dream job at Hatteras Yachts as a Materials and Process Engineer. This introduced him to all of the major composites suppliers.

When RimCraft was started in 1982, Tim was able to capitalize on these relationships and grow the company. In 1987, RimCraft was acquired by GLS Fiberglass where the horizons were broadened. In 1992, Tim re-acquired RimCraft until it was bought out by FRP, Inc. in 2009 where the entire product line is still being produced and more. Tim Ross has assumed a leadership role in the new company.

On October 29th of 2015, Phoenix Equipment Company of Largo, FL assumed ownership of the RimCraft resin equipment product line and is now producing these products with even more improvements in both quality and design. You may still contact FRP for sales and support of these products.
